FPEDV’s Faith-Based Domestic Violence Task Force
The Faith-Based DV Task Force is a collaborative project-based group designed to engage and mobilize faith communities as meaningful partners in Florida’s domestic violence movement. The goal of this task force is to connect DV advocates, faith community members and leaders, and other non-profit staff in projects and campaigns to bridge the gap between faith-based survivor support and secular social service providers. Our projects will focus on the following:
- Inform Initiatives and Resources: Provide expert insight in the development of theologically-based materials that empower survivors.
- Strengthen Collaboration: Develop cross-sector partnerships between faith-based organizations, DV centers, and other community stakeholders and systems.
- Create Safer Communities: Cultivate safe spaces where survivors can get information, spiritual care, and referrals without stigma or misinterpretation of doctrine.

Domestic Violence Awareness Month Resource Guide for Faith Communities
This practical, multi-faith toolkit helps clergy and lay leaders dedicate at least one worship service in October (Domestic Violence Awareness Month) to promoting nonviolent, equitable relationships. It includes sermon and message starters, text references across faith traditions, sample prayers and liturgy, and guidance on safety and confidentiality.
The toolkit also provides suggested language for referring congregants to local certified domestic violence centers, discussion prompts for youth and parents, ready-to-use bulletin and slide content, and social media posts using #FloridaFreeFromDV. You can use the materials as written or adapt them to reflect your community’s unique voice.
