Women In Distress: Invisible Injuries: Domestic Violence, Traumatic Brain Injury and Strangulation

presented by: Women In Distress

Women In Distress | Certified Domestic Violence Center

FREE Virtual Training for Professionals, especially victim advocates, law enforcement, healthcare and social services: Domestic violence victims experience physical violence targeted at the head, neck, and face–through blows to the head or strangulation, causing concussions and brain injuries. These brain injuries are rarely identified and almost never immediately treated. They can result in short and long-term physical, emotional, and cognitive consequences that can impact every area of a survivor’s life–including their ability to successfully access and participate in your agency’s services. You will learn about Ohio’s groundbreaking research on CARE, an evidence-based framework developed by the Ohio Domestic Violence Network and The Ohio State University. CARE includes a focus on accommodations as well as practical, hands-on, free tools available to raise awareness and address brain injury with survivors, as well as within your organization and in your community partnerships.
