Beauty Begins with Feeling Safe
Cosmetologists are uniquely positioned to have a trusted bond with their clients, allowing them to hear about and recognize signs of abuse, and offer support when their clients, coworkers, and peers may need it most.
The Beauty Begins with Feeling Safe initiative provides beauty professionals with the education, awareness and skills to safely recognize and respond to clients experiencing abuse, and refer them to domestic violence support services.
FPEDV provides a variety of programs and resources tailored to empower beauty professionals to support individuals affected by domestic violence.
CUT IT OUT®: The Beauty Community Against Domestic Abuse Virtual Trainings
This training is designed for raising awareness and for training beauty professionals to recognize the signs of abuse in friends, family, clients and co-workers; respond appropriately; and safely refer victims and survivors to help and resources. During this training, participants will gain a deeper understanding of what domestic violence is, learn how to safely and appropriately discuss the topic, and review helpful resources to share.
- This class is an approved 1 hour CE credit with the DBPR for cosmetology licensure and renewal.
- All attendees of the training will receive a follow-up email with instructions to receive their free “Beauty Begins with Feeling Safe” mirror cling for their workspace, and palm cards with the Florida DV hotline number.

Quarterly Cosmetology Connection Call
- A collaborative virtual space for sharing information and resources for cosmetologists to learn more about preventing and responding to violence in their own communities. Each meeting will offer space for discussion of best practices and sharing strategies. This call is designed for cosmetologists and beauty professionals. Attendance to one of FPEDV’s CUT IT OUT®: The Beauty Community Against Domestic Abuse trainings is strongly recommended in conjunction with attending this call.
